The objective of this project is to yield on the positive influence ex-combatants hold in their respective communities as positive role models, peacebuilders and insider mediators within their communities and across sectarian and political divides, as well as across generational lines, transforming divided communities within selected at-risk areas of Lebanon into more peaceful relationships.
Further, the objective of the project is to engage ex-combatants and youth leaders from the identified communities in intergenerational and inter-community dialogue by pro-actively Dealing with the Past (of the civil war), by engaging in joint action to foster relationships across generations and communities and to enhance processes of grassroot reconciliation, social cohesion and peacebuilding in the identified areas and to consolidate peace in meaningful truth and reconciliation processes.
Last, but not least, the objective is to recognize the potential of youth as leaders for positive change in their communities with their fellow youth (at risk), by engaging them in activities that foster their awareness for potential drivers for violence (of the present situation, but also of the past related to the civil war), for community building and building positive peace.
