Reshaping Masculinity & Preventing Conflict: Empowering Community Role Models

This project explores how dominant notions of masculinity contribute to structural and gender-based violence in Lebanon, and promotes non-violent masculinity as a foundation for sustainable peace.

It works with former fighters and community leaders to critically reflect on their experiences, rethink masculinity, and take on positive roles within their communities. Through dialogue, storytelling, and awareness campaigns, the project opens public space for discussion on how gender norms shape conflict and peace.

Activities include workshops with ex-fighters, biography and storytelling work, and media campaigns featuring personal transformation stories. These efforts aim to shift public perceptions and promote new, non-violent models of leadership.

The project contributes to stronger community awareness of gendered and structural violence, while empowering ex-combatants to become credible advocates for peace and non-violence.
