Call for De-escalation & Civil Peace
Fighters for Peace organized a dialogue event on the occasion of April 13 under the title:
“A Call for De-escalation and the Protection of Civil Peace,” held at Beit Beirut – Sodeco, with the participation of civil figures, public affairs stakeholders, and members of the media.
The event took place amid the sensitive conditions Lebanon is currently experiencing, and against a backdrop of rising divisive and inciting rhetoric. It provided an open space for dialogue and engagement, where lessons from the Lebanese Civil War were revisited, and reaffirmed that civil peace is a collective responsibility that cannot be taken lightly.
The session included a presentation of the call’s key messages, followed by an interactive discussion on ways to strengthen and expand it. The aim was to reinforce the values of citizenship, curb discourse that threatens social stability, and promote a culture of dialogue over confrontation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed on a joint statement reflecting the main points of consensus reached during the discussion.
If you feel it represents you and speaks on behalf of all Lebanese, we encourage you to help share and amplify it, and stand in support of de-escalation, dialogue, and the protection of civil peace in Lebanon.
