Honoring Memory at Deir Saydet Eliej

19 October 2025

Earlier in the year 2025, FFP members visited the Deir Saydet Eliej in Meifouq, the headquarters of the Saydet Eliej Association, to coordinate efforts aimed at cleansing collective memory and promoting nonviolence while halting hate speech. The day ended with the planting of a cedar tree in the “Cedar of Loyalty for the Martyrs” forest.

Participants left heartfelt reflections in the cemetery visitor log, remembering those who had sacrificed their lives during Lebanon’s conflicts. One attendee wrote, “The blood of martyrs is a bridge to building the nation. Our commitment to peace honors their sacrifice.” Another emphasized the importance of ensuring that Lebanon’s civil wars remain the last, dedicating the day to building a future worthy of the fallen. These words embody the spirit of reconciliation that guides every FFP ritual.
