With deep sorrow and profound sadness, Fighters for Peace mourns our colleague, Mr. Ahmad Matar, who was known for his kindness of character, his commitment to the values of diversity and tolerance in his conduct and relationships, and his steadfast belief in the principles of positive peace based on equality in rights and responsibilities. He was also known for his tireless efforts to strengthen civil peace among Lebanese people.
The late Ahmad Matar joined the association since its establishment and was elected as a member of its Board of Directors in April 2024.
On March 19 of this year, our dear colleague passed away after weeks of illness, and we received the news of his passing with great sorrow.
He left us at a time when our beloved Lebanon is going through its darkest circumstances, when it is in greatest need of the values of solidarity and compassion in which he deeply believed.
We will always remember him for his kind presence, his thoughtful discussions and writings, and his constant concern for civil peace among Lebanese people, as well as his dedication to participating in all efforts that promote a culture of dialogue and encounter.
We pledge that his colleagues at Fighters for Peace will remain firmly committed to the values of justice, freedom, and love that brought us together.
We extend our sincere condolences to his respected family, as well as to all his friends and loved ones, wishing them patience and strength, and wishing his soul mercy and peace.
