Testimony at the Human Library in Beit Beirut

On April 13, Fighters for Peace participated in the “Human Library” event held at Beit Beirut, as part of the “Hkeeli” initiative. The association was represented by Mr. Walid Saab.

During the event, Mr. Walid shared a personal testimony with the audience, speaking openly about his experience during the war: how he became involved, the reasons that led him to take up arms, and the circumstances and motivations that later led him to abandon violence and join the association, where he now works in the field of peacebuilding.

The session offered participants a rare opportunity to hear a real-life story firsthand and to learn about the association’s role in supporting former combatants and encouraging them to contribute to reconciliation efforts.

This activity is part of the project “Bridging the Sectarian and Generational Divide: Former Combatants and Youth Leaders as Community Mediators in At-Risk Areas,” supported by UNDP Lebanon and funded by the Embassy of Canada to Lebanon, in partnership with UN Women Lebanon, and implemented by Fighters for Peace.

Special thanks to Her Excellency the Canadian Ambassador Ms. Stefanie McCollum.
